* New stockists wanted

ASF announced today the introduction of a new range of socket box protection pads. When installed correctly, Socket Box Protection Pads can help prevent the passage of smoke, flames, sound and air movement that otherwise may occur through an electrical socket. The pads are ideally suited for use in stud and partition walls in both multi-occupancy dwellings and the full range of commercial premises.

Neil Smith, Sales & Business Development Manager at ASF, explains more; "The alleged integrity of a fire rated wall is meaningless if the fire stopping of switches and sockets is neglected. Our findings show that the responsibility for ensuring the installation of such protection appears to be landing at the feet of the electrical contractor. By raising awareness of this product we hope that more people will understand the importance of ensuring that all sockets and switches are correctly fire stopped."

The ASF range, which is available in both a single and double socket format, has been developed in the UK to give a 2 hour fire rating. The pads can be easily fitted on either a first or second fix and their sound deadening qualities allow them to conform to Part L of the Building Regulations 2010.

With many electrical contractors bearing the responsibility for the installation of such products, ASF is keen to recruit new stockists for its entire range of passive fire protection products. Any company wanting to find out more should contact Neil Smith on telephone 01484 421036, or email enquiries@asf-products.co.uk

In addition to investing in the design of the product, ASF has also produced a unique display pack for both models that is fitted with a euro hanger for use in trade counters and retails areas. The pads have been tested to BS EN 1364-1:1999, BS EN 1366-3:2004 and BS EN ISO 140-3:1995 for reduction of airborne sound transmission, and also carry a third party certification from Certifire.

ASF, a comprehensive range of sealants, wraps and boards for the fire safety market, is launched.

Polyseam, the own brand developer and manufacturer of sealants, adhesives and fillers announced today the launch of its new ASF range. The products, which include sealants, pipe wraps, pipe collars and fire boards, help to ensure that both new builds and refurbished properties meet the latest requirements for air and sound insulation and for fire stopping.

Neil Smith, Sales & Business Development Manager at Polyseam, commented; "Recent changes in legislation are requiring specifiers and builders to think in more detail about how they can improve insulation levels, not only for fire but also sound and air. Using passive fire protection solutions along with the complimentary insulators for air and sound can make a real difference to both the comfort and safety levels in a building, be it residential or commercial."

There are currently six products in the ASF stable, all of which have been independently assessed and certified to the latest, internationally recognised standards including EN1363-1:199, EN1366-3:2004, 2009, BS476 Part 20:1987, BSEN ISO 717-1:1997. All products have Certifire third party certification.

The products in the range are:

FR Mineral Wool Board - designed to maintain the fire resistance of separating walls and floors where breached by building services.

Pipe Wrap & Pipe Collars - contain a graphite based material that will expand to fill a void created when plastic pipes have melted as a result of fire.

S290 - an acoustic intumescent sealant that prevents the spread of smoke and fire through joints and service penetrations.

S291 - an intumescent pressure sealant to prevent the passage of smoke and flames by closing the void left by plastic pipes.

Socket Box Protection - a fire and sounded rated putty that prevents the passage of smoke, flames, sound and air through an electrical socket.

Other products are already under development with new products scheduled to be launched later in the year.

New resellers wanted

"We believe there is a real window of opportunity for this range and are keen to hear from any company interested in being a reseller," continued Neil Smith. " We are able to offer a comprehensive support package to resellers and would welcome enquiries from across the country."
